John Richard Green

John Green

John passed away peacefully at the Claresholm Hospital on Saturday, March 10th, 2018, four days short of his 96th birthday. He was born in Pandora, Alberta and considered himself a lanky six foot two son of the Southern Alberta Prairies.

John was a passionate family man, farmer and pilot. He farmed for 70 years in the High River, Nanton areas and was an active member of the Flying Farmer community for close to 30 years. He was a founding member and long-time volunteer at the Bomber Command Museum.

He is lovingly remembered by his family of six children, Neall (Llizabet) Coulson, Lloyd (Pauline) Green, Teresa Husted, Sharalee Greene, Rodney (Maureen) Green, Ellen (Wayne) Brown; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. John is predeceased by his first wife, Jean (Stephenson) in 1960 and Rita (Cameron) in 2017.

A Memorial Service in John’s honour will be held at the Nanton Community Centre on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Bomber Command Museum of Canada, PO Box 1051, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0. My condolences to Lloyd, Teresa, Sharalee, and all their siblings and offspring which are becoming too numerous to mention. I have many fond memories of times meeting John in various situations over many years. He was always clear and precise and spoke with a glint of humour in his eyes. Sad to say goodbye.
