Emily "Kim" Clayton

June 27, 2018

Emily Clayton
Kim Clayton passed away in Calgary on June 27, 2018 at the age of 57, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Kim is lovingly remembered by her husband, Tony Muszynski; daughter, Hannah (Naomi Hiebert) Muszynski; son, Alex (Freya O’Sullivan) Muszynski; mother, Patricia Clayton; sisters, Rosalie (Charles) Pedersen and Lorna (Chris Belyk) Clayton; brother, Roger (Margaret Hanna) Clayton; mother-in-law, Janina Muszynski; sisters-in-law, Wanda Muszynski and Marie (Richard Stelmaczonek) Muszynski and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kim was predeceased by her father, Bruce Clayton, her father-in-law, Stanley Muszynski, her stepfather, Harold Rowbottom and her very special Uncle Joe Clayton. Raised on the family farm near Airdrie, Kim loved adventure, nature, family and friends.  She travelled extensively, constantly embracing new places and people. Thoughtful and decisive, she was a highly-valued leader and mentor. Educated as a lawyer, she was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1996.  She worked with her husband, Tony in their small law firm for many years, and later spent 8 years with the Alberta Energy Regulator where she was promoted several times, ultimately to senior management. Kim will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.  She was instrumental in organizing many family events for her large extended families, often at the “Clayton Coulee”. Her smile and her laugh announced her vibrant presence and began many lasting friendships.  She was a reader, world traveler, hiker, hockey mom, and one incredibly sharp cookie.  She will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Kim’s Life will be held at the Town and Country Centre in Airdrie (275 Jensen Dr NE, Airdrie, Alberta T4B 1N1) on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (1620 29th St NW, Unit 300, Calgary, AB T2N 4L7) or at www.albertacancer.ca.  The family would like to particularly thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (Unit 46 and 47) as well the Rosedale Hospice where Kim peacefully spent her last days.
