Selma was the eighth of eleven children born to Arne & Josephine Ness in Didsbury, AB on October 11, 1918.

When Selma was less than one year old, they moved to the Ness’ Homestead in Bergen, to the same home that where the Ness family lived when they moved to Didsbury in 1913. Bergen is where Selma grew up and lived until she married. Selma often expressed happy memories about her Bergen home she enjoyed with her parents, brothers & sisters, all of whom have preceded Selma in death.

In the early 1930’s, Harold Sees came to Alberta from Vermont to help a friend catch and train wild horses. That he did, but he also caught a girl, Selma, who become his wife on April 18, 1935. They farmed in Bergen until 1943 when Selma and Harold moved to Vermont and had four children, Evelyn, Viola, Lloyd and Judy. In Montpelier, Selma gave birth to two more children, Betty and Patty.

After 28 years of farming in Vermont, Harold and Selma moved back to Alberta in 1971 where they continued to farm for several more years. They lived in Olds, Halkirk and Carstairs and moved back to Olds in 1990 where Selma had been residing until her death on Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Selma is lovingly remembered by her children, Viola Wissell of California, Judy (LaVoy) Garner of Tennessee and Patty (Charlie) Bennett of New York; grandchildren, Francis Tash, Linda Birney, Louann Armstrong, Arthur Hurd, Tammy Hobbs, Kimberly Bennett, Crystal Bennett, Michael Wissell and Patrick Wissell; and great grandchildren, Tamara Birney, Jessica Birney, Alex Birney, Cheyenne Wissell, Kieren Wissell and Roanan Wissell.

Selma was a loving and faithful wife to her husband of 61 years, Harold who predeceased her in 1996. She was also predeceased by her children, Evelyn, Lloyd, John, Daniel and Betty; and siblings, Melvin, Annie, Jennie, Joe, Minnie, Olga, Clara, Alice, Tean and Clarence.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Olds, AB on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
