Russell "Russ" Norman Nash

January 30th, 2015

NASH, Russell Norman
November 6, 1970 – January 30, 2015

With very heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son Russ.  Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Thi; baby daughter, Mallory; parents, Gordon and Marvel; brother, Darrell; grandmother, Doris Irving, uncles and aunts, Fred and Donna Nash, Guss and Terry Nash, Bob and Penny Ohlhauser, Gordon and Bonnie Snell and many cousins.

Russ was a kind, caring, and sensitive man.  He had many struggles in life especially after he was burned over 40 per cent of his body when he was twenty-six years old.  He spent two months in the Foothills Burn Unit with many surgeries and another year recovering. We never heard him say “Why me”?  He was a skilled carpenter with many people trusting him to design, pick fixtures, paint colours, and most other things involved with building a structure or doing a renovation.  He loved to camp, boat, and white water kayak with his brother Darrell and friend Pat.  He had sky dived twice and wished he could have done it more.  Kind to all animals he took in many stray dogs and cats right from when he was a young boy which continued on to his adult life.  When he moved to Carbon to develop his parents acreage he tamed many stray cats with two ending up living with him.  He had them altered and took them to the vet every year for shots.  He loved nature, wasn’t extravagant, and we often say he should have been born 100 years ago.

Thi and Mallory were the loves of his life and he was obviously full of pride and joy when Mallory was born.  They miss him terribly.

A Celebration of Russ' Life will be held at the Carbon Community Centre, Carbon, AB on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for a R.E.S.P. for baby Mallory.
