Carol Ann Ponak

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Carol Ann Ponak of Langley, BC, on February 1st, 2023. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Langley Hospice.

Mom was born on February 21st, 1945, to Jim and Victoria Logan in Montreal, Quebec and grew up in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver. She moved to Langley in 1972. Carol is survived by her husband of 58 years, Emil and sons Darrin (Cindy), Dean (Ana) and Brent. Grandchildren Taylor (Ryan), Nic (Danielle), Joshua, Trinity, Manuel, Samir, great granddaughter Sage and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Carol was devoted to her family but still found time to be an advocate for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She worked hard at establishing a special needs preschool and Kindergarten and brought Special Olympics to Langley in 1987. She stayed active in S.O. as a board member, fund-raiser, uniform purchaser and as a certified coach until she had to retire last year due to poor health.

A private internment will be held at Fort Langley Cemetery for family members only.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 4th at 11am at Christian Life Assembly with Gordon Ponak officiating. Entrance and parking at the back of the church.
