Kan Mo Kun Chew

Kan Mo Kun Chew, 76, of Vancouver, BC and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, died on February 20, 2023, at his home in Vancouver. 

He was born on June 13, 1946, to Shon and Gee Chim in Guangzhou China. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 with his parents and youngest sister, May. He attended Eric Hamber Secondary School, class of ‘66, and raised his family and built multiple businesses in Vancouver.  He retired to Puerto Vallarta part time in 2009. He is survived by daughter Janine (Allison), grandchildren Eliora and Penelope, nephew Jayson, and girlfriend Ruth. He was preceded by his parents and May (January 2022). 

He will be remembered for hosting friends on the roof-top patios of Torre Allende and Chop-Chop Restaurant, meeting friends for the best Chinese food, sending daily photos, telling jokes and stories, enjoying classical music, supporting local artists, and making new friends everywhere he went. 

“Our souls are dispersed and harboured into the Universe simultaneously. When we are nowhere... we are everywhere.”      

A celebration of life will be held in Vancouver, BC on April 2nd, 2023, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, TBA. To attend, please email louielobster@gmail.com.
