KLEIAN, Yvonne Elisabeth

September 18, 1941 – July 15, 2021

Yvonne Elisabeth Kleian (Hamar de la Brethoniére) of Olds, Alberta, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 15, 2021 surrounded by family.

She was born on Sept 18, 1941 in Makassar, Indonesia and grew up in the Den Haag area of the Netherlands.

After marrying Udo Kleian in 1963, they emigrated to Canada in 1967 and settled initially in Calgary, AB. She was always a keen participant in her community and her cheery and chatty nature always allowed her to meet and make friends and acquaintances wherever they found themselves, which was small town Alberta. She made homes for the family in Stavely, Blairmore and Claresholm, before moving back to Calgary where she worked in the reprographics area for a variety of firms.

After retirement they settled on an acreage in Didsbury, AB eventually moving to town and then relocating to Olds where she remained until her passing. Anywhere they went, Yvonne was able to connect with others, whether at shops, the swimming pool where she was an avid aquacise participant or just around her neighbourhood.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Udo; daughter, Charissa (Chris); and son, Terence (Sonja); and grandchildren, Oliver, Daphne and Benjamin; sisters, Sylvia de Jonge, Anne (John) Frisken; and brothers Edu and Hans (Pauline) Hamar de la Brethoniére.

Yvonne was predeceased by her sister, Maggie (Gerard); and brother, Roy; and her parents, Frans and Dien Hamar de la Brethoniére, all of the Netherlands.

There will be a Celebration of Life coffee at the Zion Evangelical Christian Church, #802 Secondary Hwy 582 across from the campground in Didsbury, AB on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Yvonne’s memory to the Olds Hospital Foundation, 3901 - 57 Avenue, Olds, AB, T4H 1T4, or to the Olds and District Hospice Society, PO Box 4321 Stn Main, Olds, AB, T4H 1P8.
