Ronald Braden Kilpatrick

January 24th, 2021

Ron was born on January 8th, 1936 in Ribstone AB to Donald Emerson Kilpatrick and Clara (Burton) Kilpatrick.

Ron spent his childhood years growing up in Ribstone, AB and Edmonton, AB. Beyond doing the things a child would do growing up in the city and on the farm he started working at a young age. A few of the things he did included delivering fliers and taking orders from local businesses and restaurants for fish deliveries that he ran around on his bike.

Rons working career began early and really lasted his entire life. His children all worked with him at some point, in some aspect and all learned from his tireless work ethic. He made lifelong friends along the way and often commented that it was where he did the bulk of his socializing. Anyone who had the good fortune to work with or beside him can attest to the fact that he was blessed with the gift of gab!!

He had many jobs through his long working career and touched many people along the way.

He worked as a police officer for the CPS, an oilmans body guard and an investigator for Western Investigations. He drove trucks, both big and small, for his dad as well as when he ran his own demolition and salvage companies.

He helped build homes in northern Alberta with Indian Affairs, ran the maintenance arm for the 4 Bands at Hobbema and was Foreman for the Summer Village of Gull Lake for years.

Ron was a journeyman Tinsmith as well as an all around contractor. He could tackle almost anything and was able to build a home from the ground up.

When not working or tinkering in the shop Ron enjoyed the outdoors. He had many hunting and fishing trips through the years that will forever be remembered by those that accompanied him. He introduced many to those great sports and they continue to pursue them with the passion that Ron had as well.

He loved auctions, antiques and was always on the lookout for a good deal. He could find that bargain and diamond in the rough when others weren’t looking. There wasn’t a thing that was wasted when Ron was around as he saw the value in everything.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lynne.

Ron was blessed with a big family, he was fortunate enough to have 7 siblings (5 brothers and 2 sisters), 7 children (5 sons and 2 daughters) as well as 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He has countless nieces and nephews and a family legacy that most can only dream of.

The love for Ron will go on and he will be missed by family and friends. He was extremely proud of his family and loved them all unconditionally. That feeling will be carried on by his family and his memory will be forever in our hearts.

Any memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.ab.ca or the charity of ones choice.

Messages:

Dear Lynne, I found out today that Ron passed away. My deepest condolences. Love always Heleen Verbaan-van der Heijden

We meet Ron a few years ago as we were both antique collections. We would like to send our condolences to his family .

To Lynne and family - We only knew Ron for the past few years but he truly was our saving grace when he fixed our furnace in our cabin in the Summer Village of Gull Lake. He was so upset with the poor workmanship of our furnace installer and gave it to us straight on how to get it up to great working order which he did. We had great visits with him each time he came. Truly a wonderful remarkable man. Our sincere condolences - Paul & Karen

Lynne, we are thinking of you and your family during this time, and praying for comfort. We were touched by Ron's generosity over the years of being neighbours- books and balls for the kids- and lessons about animals and hunting. His work ethic was inspiring, and we knew he loved his family dearly. We are so sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear about Ron’s passing Lynne. Condolences and hugs to you and your family.

Hello Lynne. We just heard about Ron. We are so sorry !! We hope you and your family are doing okay. Losing someone you love with all your heart is hard. Just know we are here for you. Thinking of you and your family. Your friends Garth and Shannon. Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Our condolences to you and your family Lynne. We have some wonderful memories of him during our 23 years at the lake.

Our heartfelt sympathies to Lynn and all of Ron’s family. We got to know Ron when we built our house in the Village of Gull Lake. We enjoyed getting to know Ron as he worked on our ductwork and installed our furnace. His love for his family was evident as he would share his stories. We feel blessed that we got to know him.

We are deeply hurt and grieving at losing this great friend and fellow earthling. Such a fine human being he was. Cal's time spent working with Ron was truly some of the best times of his life. His amazing attention to detail and his absolute disgust for shoddy workmanship set a standard second to none. Cal so much appreciated his clear vision of how things HAD to be done. We realize what a great void he leaves behind, and trust that you can find comfort in all the good memories. So long my good friend, and we'll see ya' later!

Our condolences from Laurel and I to you and your family. Thinking of you

Hugs, prayers and sincere condolences on your loss. Please treasure your memories and take of each other. Don & Helen Anne Homenuk
