Walter Bushfield

Walter Bushfield (May 17, 1925 - April 4, 2020)

Walter passed away peacefully at Luxstone Manor in Airdrie at the age of 94. He lived a good long life, mostly in the Beddington/Balzac community. Although he never wanted to leave the farm, his last six years were spent at Luxstone where, in his own words, they really looked after him. Walter is lovingly remembered by his children, Eldon Bushfield (Janice), Lois Habberfield (Doug), and Brian Bushfield (Terri); his brother, Archie Bushfield; and his sisters, Dorothy Doner, Hazel O’Brien and Pat Harvey. He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille; son, Lester; brother, Charlie; and his parents. Raymond and Mary. In addition to his passion for farming, Walter enjoyed being a member of the Olds College Alumni, the Airdrie Lions’ Club for 49 years, the Alberta Pioneer Auto Club for over 50 years, and the Nose Creek Valley Museum. He restored many antique automobiles, built and renovated 4 houses, and built all kinds of farm-related items like granaries, chicken houses, hay rakes, straw barges, stack movers and “the cart” on which all his kids learned to drive and shift gears. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, there will be no Memorial Service at this time but the family would like to have a celebration at a later date. Details to follow.
