Caryn Eileen Allen

August 1st, 2020

Caryn Eileen Allen (nee Simmons) of Airdrie AB passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 1st, 2020 at the age of 62 from breast cancer. Caryn was born in Vulcan, AB to Harvey and Nora Simmons on June 19th,1958. Caryn took her first 10 years of schooling in Vulcan, then finished her education at Mount Ellis Academy in Bozeman Montana. After high school, Caryn moved to Calgary and eventually to Red Deer where she met her future husband Tim (formerly of Carberry Man.). On April 27th, 1985 they were married in Red Deer and embarked on their 35 year adventure. Work took them to Edmonton for 3 years, then back to Calgary and finally to Airdrie in 1991 where she resided until her passing. Caryn was a stay at home mom during the 90's raising their 2 children. Always ready to volunteer at school or events, she made sure that the kids always got to their sports and was always there to cheer them on. She loved crafting and was always looking for that next great craft to share with the kids and their friends. As the kids grew, she took on part time work at different places to help with summer holidays and just day to day life. At one point Caryn knew her home and heart were ready to grow again and together Tim and Caryn invited their nieces and nephew to join their family for awhile. In 2000, she felt it was time to take on a career. On that note, she enrolled at SAIT and achieved her Land Administrators Certificate at the end of 2000. For the next 20 years she followed the ups and downs of the Alberta oil industry, never being out of work, ending her career with Todd Energy this past July. Caryn's parents were a very important part of her life.  When they were able, Caryn invited them on many family trips including time at the lake and trips to the States.  As they aged she continued to get them out for family outings and vacations at her home.  Regular calls just to check in was always her style.  Her dedication was deeply appreciated. Also of  great importance were her 3 grandchildren, always wanting show them new crafts or games or puzzles. They put the twinkle in her eyes.

Caryn is survived by her loving husband Tim of 35 years, daughter, Lindsay Bell, and her husband Rorie, their 3 children Rowen, William & Rayce of Airdrie; her son, Brandon &  life partner Julia of Edmonton; her mother, Nora Simmons of Vulcan, AB; sister, Wanda Cookson and  husband Dave of Vulcan; sister, Diane of Calgary; sister, Judi Ziegle and husband Richard of Walla Walla Washington. She was predeceased by her father, Harvey in December of 2016. Caryn also leaves to mourn her passing numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout Alberta, B.C.,Washington State, California & Nevada. She also leaves to mourn her passing, her 4 legged nurse Juno, her Australian Sheppard. Juno often slept on her bed. Caryn loved to touch her and feel her warmth. And when the Home Care nurses came, she would lie in front of Caryn's bed, watching, making them work around her as they attended to Caryn's needs.

In our 35 years of marriage, she kept me on the straight and narrow and never led me astray. Love you to the moon and back......Tim

We would like to thank Dr. A. Raghavji, our family doctor of almost 30 years, Dr. Marc Webster of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, and the staff at Airdrie Home Care. Their knowledge and compassion were so appreciated on Caryn's journey. They made life as good as it could be.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Tom Baker Cancer Centre (https://giving.albertacancer.ca/donate/cancer-centres) or the Airdrie Health Foundation (https://www.airdriehealthfoundation.com/)

My deepest condolences to Tim, Lindsay (Rorie & kids), Brandon (Julia), Juno, Bunny, Nora and Siblings (and families). Caryn was one of those rare and special Gems to grace our presence and she will leave a footprint on my (our) heats(s) forever! She once told me life is like a bowl of cherries, with all the sweetness and pits along the way. She loved and cherished every moment in life, especially her family and friends. No matter the situation she was always so positive, with a terrific sense of humor and never complained. A brave hero that was truly loved by everyone that was lucky enough to have known her. May all the wonderful memories comfort the family during this sad and difficult time. May the sun on your face and back be her warm and gentle hugs and kiss on you cheek.

To Tim and family (both immediate and extended) - I offer you my deepest sympathies on Caryn's passing. I met Caryn in 2005, when she welcomed me into the Real Resource family with open arms the first day I stepped through the door. I knew immediately I had found a kindred spirit. Caryn was courageous, conscientiousness, perseverant, resilient and passionate. In other words, she possessed true grit. I am fortunate to have Caryn traverse through my life. Her love of life, family and animals was noteworthy. I will truly miss her. Big hugs to all of you and God bless!

Tim, I only knew Caryn from work, but she was a special person and she loved you and her family dearly. We are both Grand Parents and we shared stories and laughs of your family time at the lake with the kids. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Tony & Paula Ford

Thanks Tim for sharing this with us. As I said before Caryn was a lovely special woman that we enjoyed from the minute we met you both. Our time together was way to short but I am thankful we got to meet her. Please stay in touch Tim. Enjoy your memories ......like my dad said ...its the circle of life....

Caryn was truly a wonderful person; kind, giving, and selfless. I have been very lucky to have worked with Caryn over the past few years. She was always telling stories about her kids, grandkids, and husband. She was a great friend to her co-workers, always asking about my own family and sharing advice. Caryn will be missed and often thought of.

What a beautiful message for a wonderful lady. She definitely touched the hearts of many people throughout her life. Caryn will be missed but those who were part of her life will always have special memories of the time they spent with her.

Caryn’s warmth and smile made every visit memorable Tim and Caryn always there, life long friends. How two farm boys seeking their fame and fortune in Alberta fall of 74 would set up Tim. Tim meeting Caryn making one happy family. Caryn’s gift as a friend I will always cherish.
