Ryan is also survived by his siblings, Mark (Vanita) DesMazes, Okotoks, AB, Duane (Kylee) Stamper, Aaron (Christy) Stamper, Tammy Truyen, Donna Stamper, Laura Stamper, Angela Stamper; and his birth mother, Irene Stamper, all from British Columbia. Ryan was predeceased by his brothers, William and Doug Stamper; sister, Debbie Stamper; his grandparents, Rob and Mildred Anderson; and Andy and Ruth DesMazes.

Ryan was known by family and friends as a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Sandra DesMazes. He was a kind, loving and an easygoing man, he enjoyed any chance he could to be outside camping, horseback riding, skiing, hunting and guiding, going on road trips and spending time with family. Ryan was a man that could not sit still and had to be tinkering with any parts, pieces, or machines whether they had to be fixed or not. Alongside Ryan who was never far away; was his little companion, Chewy (his dog). Ryan had a love for all animals.

Ryan was known by all for his love and skill as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He loved operating any and all sizes of excavators and dozers, or any piece of equipment that allowed him to play in the dirt.

Ryan was born in Chilliwack, BC on July 3rd,1978 but was raised and grew up in Revelstoke, BC. This is where his love of the mountains and outdoors began.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Journey Church, 10307 Eamon Road NW, Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 2 pm. There will be a viewing at 1:00 pm at the Journey Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to and/or sharing the Go Fund Me account page on Ryan or Sandra's Facebook page. To help the family cover the cost of the funeral and family expenses.

Ryan struggled with an addiction for many years. He was able to attain sobriety over the years, but did get caught up in the current opiate epidemic crisis that our country is involved in. Addiction is cunning, baffling and powerful and is devastating to all those involved in it. Ryan had a loving and supportive family and had everything a man could want but drugs took hold of his life. It changed him, and destroyed so much of the hope, happiness and promise to his future.  Ryan's family and friends encourage everyone to help smash the stigma of addiction by advocating for and supporting initiatives that create hope for families facing the same loss as our family.

Sandra, I haven't met you but I am so sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to all Ryan's family. Similar to others, I will remember Ryan as the playful little boy I spent time with as a kid. This is another painful reminder of the fentanyl crisis and need for our compassion and care rather than judgement.

Ryan I only wish we had more time. We finally meet after 36 years. I wanted you to work with my running equipment but now I will continue throwing the dirt with you watching my back. Gone so young but I'll never forget you. I will be there to help carry you my brother. See you Thursday. Thank you everyone for the comments. I like to hear more memories of him. Keep them coming. Love you R.I.P

To Lynn, Phil and family- it is with great sadness to hear Ryan has left us. I remember Ryan playing with his friends and the many weekends of skiing on Mount MacKenzie. Great fun for families and good memories. Thinking of you all at this time.❤️

Hi Bud , You always will be in my heart . Good friend , good coworker. A nice guy to hang with . Memories of those times running equipment and laughing about all the mistakes at work. Well , like an old friend once said " don't worry, no will be out of this earth alive " , well Buddy i'll see you there .... Misss you man,

I am very sorry for your loss. But a truly brave family for speaking out about addictions. Take care and bless you and all the loved ones. I do not know the family but read the obituary and appreciate the honestly.

To all Ryan's family, we send our sincere condolences. We will always remember the cute little boy that played sports along with our son and so many other classmates here in Revelstoke. Rest In Peace Ryan, you deserve it, but you will be missed.

I hope you're finally at peace Ryan. I didn't know you well, but I love Sandra to bits. Her heart is broken! You were not a bad man Ryan, you were just caught up in what many of us have and are still going through. You were loved and you will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, dear brother. Billi

This message comes from Ryan’s great-Auntie Eileen (his Grandma Anderson’s sister) and her daughter Marlene. We are so very sorry to hear that Ryan has passed away. We always had a soft spot for Ryan! We last saw him at his Grandma Anderson’s memorial service and enjoyed chatting with him. Our deepest sympathy to you all. I'm so sorry to hear this. I will always remember Ryan's huge, infectious smile. Condolences to the family.

I never met you but I watched the agony of your life in my own son. He too passed from the overdose of fentanyl. I pity your family having to watch you destroy everything near and dear Dear family be strong and forgiving so you can heal

I knew Ryan when he was growing up on Revelstoke. He lived with my parents for a short period of time. One fond memory I have of him was his entrepreneurialism. My parents lived on the Trans Canada highway just outside of Revelstoke and the highway would often be closed in the winter due to accidents or slides. This would leave many vehicles (and passengers) stranded in a line up waiting for it to be re-opened. Ryan realized that there was an opportunity available there. He asked my mom if he could maybe sell some coffee and sandwiches to the people in the vehicles. My mom thought it was a great idea so she made up some sandwiches and coffee. My dad let him use an old skidoo and Ryan went up and down the long line up seeing if anyone would like to purchase anything. Turns out it was exactly what the crowd wanted. He came back for refills to go out again 2 or 3 times. My parents were impressed with his determination. My mom still tells that story every so often. Ryan was so easy to like and always quick with his smile. I am so very sorry that his family has to grieve his loss. He was so much more than his addiction and he touched the lives of so many. My thoughts are with you all.

Our deepest condolences to all the family. I remember him at two when he came to live in Revelstoke... And what a joyful going concern he was. I'm very sad to hear this news. Prayers are being said for all the family

I’m sorry for your loss, I wish I was able to say everything a daughter could say about her dad when he passes. We didn’t have a relationship like that. We didn’t talk for years. There was never a day that went by that I didn’t think of you. I always wanted to know if I’d know you. I always wondered if I was like you in anyway. I’ll never know now. Now I ask you to guide me, show me the path that isn’t clear to me.... I’m very sorry for the immediate family’s loss... I would love to talk more.

So very sorry for this terrible loss. I have many memories of a sweet little boy playing across the road :Down south: May he always be remembered with love in your hearts!

So sorry to hear of your loss rest in peace Ryan

I am so very sorry for you loss My heart breaks for all of you. I’m sending lots of love and prayers your way. RIP Ryan
