Robert "Bob" David Hendrickson

September 15th, 2018

It is with great love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend, Bob “The Builder” Hendrickson. Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, September 15, 2018 after a lengthy battled with cancer.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Genevieve; sons, Jesse (Caitlin) and Scott (India); sisters, Linda, Sandy, Cathy (Glenn), and Irene (Doug); brothers, John (TC), Gordon (Sandy), and Roger; and father, David. He is also remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Mikelle (2009); mother, Olga (2013); and brother, Michael (1977).

Bob was born in Olds, Alberta on March 4, 1958.  He grew up in Calgary, Alberta in the St. Andrews Heights community.  Bob was raised by his parents, David and Lucille Olga (deceased 2013) in a large family including 4 sisters, Linda, Sandy, Cathy (Glenn), Irene (Doug); and four brothers, Michael (deceased 1977), John (TC), Gordon (Sandy) and Roger.

As a teenager, Bob made many life-long friends, including meeting his wife Genevieve in 1973. They married in 1983 and had three children, Jesse (Caitlin), Scott (India) and Mikelle (deceased 2009).

Bob joined the Insulators Union in the 1970's and became a journeyman insulator in 1980. He paid his dues working many shut downs in Fort McMurray in the late 70's and 80's.

Bob joined the I.A.T.S.E union local 212 in 1997 while working for F & D Scene Changes. This is where he found his calling and second family.  He worked as a head carpenter and soon became known as 'Bob The Builder'.  His work took him to Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, New York, L.A., Manchester and many other places where he oversaw the installation of theatrical productions and films.

Bob had a passion for golf, both as a fan and as a player. He enjoyed gardening, doing crosswords and using his carpentry skills to help friends and family with various projects.

Bob will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A Memorial Service will be held at Kensington Commons Church, 2404 Kensington Rd NW, Calgary, Alberta, on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00pm.

irene and family.. so sorry to learn of your brother's passing. Thinking of you and the family during this difficult time.

Our love and prayers are with you and your family at this really difficult time. God bless all of you.

Not only was Bob an amazing builder, but he was a kind, giving, and thoughtful man. When my father passed away, Bob and Jen helped my mother not only emotionally, but both worked to help fix up her house. And then when my husband was layed off after 20 years, Bob offered him a job. Words cannot express what what an impact he has had on my family alone, and I can't imagine what the rest of the world has lost with his passing. I feel Lucky and blessed that I was able to see the kindness and generosity that the Hendricksons seem to cast, wherever they go. Bob, your loss is felt, and you will be missed. But when I think of you, I can't help but smile.

Gen and family, I send my sincerest condolences to you all. Bob has left his infectious laugh imprinted in my hearts memory. He will be missed and remembered forever. Hugs of love to you Gen xo

I give my deepest sympathy to you and your family Genevieve. Hope you are surrounded by love at this sad time. I have alot of good memories with Bob from my younger years.
