Joseph Michael Patrick McGaughey

July 12, 1951 - August 18, 2023

After a short battle with cancer, Joe McGaughey peacefully passed away at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody on August 18, 2023, surrounded by loving family. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joe, and Annie (McCann) McGaughey and is survived by his wife, Wendy (Abrahamson); sister, Bev Bengert; two daughters, Amanda (Chris) Roberts and Ashleigh (Ricky, deceased) Taylor; and son, Sean (Brittany). He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Kye, Brixton, Penelope, and Madeleine; and the mother of his children, Joanne (Barton) McGaughey. Joe will be missed by many, including his stepchildren, Dionne (Steve) Tremblay, Dana Robb, and Danielle Dagg (Bill Nash), and extended family and friends.

Joe started his working career at Kelly Douglas in Burnaby. Following its closure, he worked for his sister and brother-in-law's company, Bengert Recycling. He then worked at Burnaby Hospital and finally retired with the City of Port Coquitlam.

Please join us for a Celebration of Joe's Life on Sunday, September 24th from 1 to 4 pm at 3235 Flint St., Port Coquitlam in the main floor amenity room.

I am so sad to hear of Joe's passing. My condolences to Sean & the Mcgaughey family on behalf of myself and my family. Though I only spent brief moments with him, I will remember them with fondness and gratitude forever.
