1927 – 2021

It is with great sadness that the Yoneda family of Calgary, Alberta, announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Yuriko Lily Yoneda on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the age of 93.

Lily was born Yuriko Saka near Raymond, Alberta, on August 11, 1927. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Kazufu Casey Yoneda; son, Kazuyuki Dana Yoneda; sister, Carole Omura; brothers, Jack & Tucker Saka; the Morrison family; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Whether it was offering a ride or a place to stay to those who needed it, or making a house call to cut a person’s hair, or making sushi or dessert to help with the dinner party, she considered the well-being of others before thinking of herself. She gave generously to those closest to her and made sure no one was left out. To those seeking her advice, she provided invaluable wisdom from her life experiences.

Sadly, poor health led to her taking residence at the Mount Royal Care Centre who provided her with exceptional care throughout her stay and made her last days as comfortable as possible.

She will always be in our thoughts.
