William Alexander Johnstone

September 17, 2026

Dr. William Alexander Johnstone passed away on Thursday September 17, 2026. He was born in Regina, SK on June 10th, 1948 to William Warden and Mary Stewart (nee Kidd) Johnstone.

Bill grew up in the Lakeview area of Regina where he attended Argyle elementary.  He graduated high-school from Sheldon-Williams Collegiate in 1967 where he met many life-long friends.

After high school, following in a family tradition he attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, graduating in 1971. While attending college he met his life-long love, Sandra Anne MacLeod. Sandy moved to Regina in 1972 and they married in June of that year.  They built a life of love and laughter.

Bill was a devoted chiropractor.  He joined his dad in practice in 1971, while also building his career by travelling to Melville.  His brother, Bob, joined them in 1973 and the three Johnstones practiced together until Bill Sr’s retirement. Bill served as President of both the Saskatchewan and Canadian Chiropractic Associations. He was widely respected as a knowledgeable and skilled practitioner with a kind and thoughtful manner. He remained devoted to his patients until his retirement in 2016.

Bill was a naturally playful person and brought his keen sense of humour to most of his activities. He was a true sportsman and enjoyed spending his spare moments watching and playing sports like hockey, basketball, and especially golf. He was a 30+ year member at the Royal Regina Golf Club and a passionate Rider fan with season tickets for nearly 50 years. He took particular pleasure in supporting and celebrating the sports activities of his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Sandy, children Matt (Nicole), and Shannon (Chad), his grandkids - Cooper, Marin and Franny, his two younger brothers, Bob (Lucille) and Bruce (Janice) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Bill also leaves behind his steadfast companion, a giant white husky cross, Maggie May.  Bill was predeceased by his parents and sister Beth (Harvey) Duff.

Bill spent his last days in the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital.  We would like to extend our thanks to the entire staff of 3A, for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Regina Golf Club (5401 11th avenue west) from 2pm to 4pm on October 1, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

For those who cannot attend, the below link will allow you to attend the service virtually.

Bill was a true “ gentle” man. He and Sandy were an integral part of our lives. The memories of days at the beach, the international dinner parties, road rallies, and, of course, the New Year’s Eve parties out at Fort San always bring smiles and laughter. His passing brings tears, but his life enriched all who knew him. What a legacy!

So sad to hear that Bill has passed on. I had the great pleasure of playing golf with Bill for many years at the Royal Regina. BIll was a terrific golfer and in particular a great driver of the ball. More importantly he was fun to golf with and had a terrific sense of humour. BIll would play in all sorts of weather; I remember playing while it snowed and laughing/ commiserating at our many bad shots. Bill was a great storyteller too, and would tell stories from his work as a chiropractor. If I remember correctly Bill was a chiropractor for the Riders I will miss Bill. Our condolences to Sandy and family
