John Wilcox

John "left the party" in the wee hours of March 28, which came as a shock to us all. He is survived by his wife, Fattaneh, sister, Susan (Brian), nieces, Erin, Kelly and Shooka, nephew, Dario, notably his sister-in-law Fahimeh, Fattaneh's daughter, Chery (Reno), Paride, and Rosario in Italy, and many relations in Canada. He was pre-deceased by his father, Les, mother, Anne, and sister, Linda.

John's interests were many: youth soccer, photography, art, travel, and particularly, cars and trucks, as evidenced by many years of working with Pacific Coast Heavy Truck Group and Inland-Kenworth. Hot spots in the US and Italy were favourite destinations. However, travel to Canada's east coast, the UK and holidays with family in B.C.'s Interior were also special.

He will be remembered by old friends from Handsworth and Capilano College and with fond regard by friends and co-workers in the heavy truck industry... "Smokin' Johnny" was one of a kind! In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice. A memorial date will be set later.

Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality. Emily Dickinson John was my brother-in-law but more importantly he was best friend. He is always going to remain within my heart and thoughts. May he rest in peace.

How sad we are to say goodbye to such a good person. We have many happy memories of the time spent with John and Fatteneh. I remember John telling me about his trips to Italy and Fatteneh teaching him to speak Italian. How proud he was to say "una bierra per favore"! Fatteneh took such good care of John and he was blessed to have such a loving and supportive wife. We will all miss him.

My Uncle John was my favorite person, he was crazy and silly at times but he was always just so dam cool! He loved fast cars, his beautiful wife and her family.When he came to S.A.to visit it was a big deal, he was a big deal! Not just with our family,but my friends to, because he was awesome.I have so many happy memories with my Uncle Johnny,I can only b happy I had him for the time I did.He will be missed so much! And never forgotten.

Fattaneh, there are few words that can bring comfort, but please know that our thoughts and love are with you during this difficult time. John, my dear cousin, you were loved and will be missed more than words can say. We had a special bond which I will always cherish. Rest in Peace. Your loving "Cuz" Gail and family.

"Brillo" was one of our gang at Handsworth. A lot of anecdotes I can and can't tell but to be sure he was one of a kind and a good friend. He was a member of the crew that rolled their cars, his Volvo, a BA hanger and crazy skier on Grouse and Seymour. After a couple of years absence from the slopes we went up Seymour in our cut-offs to enjoy the sun. It was still really icy early in the morning and I warned John about rust and the conditions. He said he understood and then took off like a rocket, wiped out completely and road rashed his leg from bottom to top and beyond. The next day he was still howling from the pain but then, as you know, that's the way he lived his life. To the fullest. My thoughts to his family and all of those who have known him and remember him as fondly as I have.
