It is with heavy hearts we announce that Roy Wigley of Airdrie, Alberta died peacefully at home, in the shop that was his sanctuary on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family, his friends and his dogs.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Marianne Wigley; his daughter, Christine Wigley; his sisters and their families; all of his extended family; as well as countless amazing friends, race fans and fellow competitors.

Roy was predeceased by his parents, William "Bill" and Mable Wigley; his brother, Bill Wigley Jr.; and his sister, Ona Wigley.

Roy lived life in the fast lane and left a lasting impact on everyone who was fortunate enough to cross his path. He truly was a legend.

A Celebration of Roy's Incredible Life was held on Friday, September 17, 2021. This is a "Roy Wigley Style" event. Feel free to your own cooler and a lawn chair to guarantee yourself a seat.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, 1331 – 29 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2N 4N2.

What a great picture of my uncle Roy. Like everyone else I will miss him very much. I was always proud of him. He did things his way. Someone that worked hard, and played hard. That smile had an effect on people in a way that I have rarely seen. One of my favourite memories: he was being bombarded by a couple kids (I don’t remember the occasion). The more he tried to be gruff, the more kids he actually attracted to him. The ‘big / bad uncle Roy’ I remember… was always real, kind, honest, and he had an infectious attitude that naturally attracted people.

Roy was a great friend and fellow car enthusiast. We shared many great adventures over the years. After Roy had won the Baby Grand Championship, we did a victory lap around the speedway in the Limo, a memory I will always cherish. Roy was a stand up guy, and I always looked forward to his visits.
