April 25, 1927 – March 1, 2019

Erna went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 1, 2019 at the age of 91. She will be dearly missed by sister, Irene; brother, Jack; son, Nelson; daughter, Janice; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchidren and extended family. Erna was predeceased by husband, Edd; sons, Bruce and Richard; 7 brothers and sisters; granddaughter and great-granddaughter. Erna took great pride in sewing stunning clothing from bridal gowns to casual wear. She was known to always have a smile and a kind word for all whom she met. Erna instilled strong values, morals and wisdom to her children and grandchildren. Words alone cannot express our appreciation for the tender care mom received from the staff at Trinity Lodge. A Visitation will be held at Foothills Mennonite Church, 2115 Urbana Road NW, Calgary, AB on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 9:00 am with Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 am. A private Graveside Service will be held at Edenbrook Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, a donation in Erna’s memory may be made to MCC Water Resources 210, 2946 – 32 Street NE, Calgary, AB, T1Y 6J7.

Justina and I wanted to let Erna's survivors know that we learned to know and appreciate Erna during the last year of her life when we too became residents of Trinity Lodge, Glenmore and Elbow. I first met her when I sat beside her in Chapel and we introduced each other. I said I love the name Erna as I have a sister by that name. The Mennonite connection made our acquaintence so easy. During the last months she was in and out of circulation in the dining room, but she, of poor eyesight, responded to me when I spoke my first name. Hers was a quiet witness to a life of faith. So, please accept our condolences at your loss of a good person, a blessing to us from her quiet demeanor. Peter and Justina
