Donald Edward White

On January 13, 2017 Donald passed away with his family by his side after a brief illness.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Don (Mary Ellen), Mickey (Rena), Scott (Christeen), and daughter Kathy Adams (Mike); sisters Marj and Maxine; brother Bud and sister-in-law Barb. He is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by special friends Carol, John, and Eric.

Donald was predeceased by his wife Beverley in 1996 and son Lindsay in 2011. As well, he was preceded in death by sisters Peggy and Pat and brother Jack.

Donald was a City of Regina firefighter for 36 years. He could build or fix almost anything for benefit of friends, family, and neighbours. He was an intelligent and witty man, with a somewhat dark sense of humour. He loved to listen to music and was well read. He travelled extensively. He was a long time Rider fan and season ticket holder. Donald was a port in the storm to many people and animals in need. He was devoted to his dogs Max and Paris and to a couple of mangy cats. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Regina Humane Society or to The Allan Blair Cancer Clinic.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the many dedicated doctors, nurses, and LPNs who cared for Donald in the last few weeks.

A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Elks Hall, 4915 - 1st Avenue North, Regina, SK.

I felt very fortunate to have been stationed at #2 firehall and having Don as my branchman and mentor. When I was with him in fires I always felt safer than with other firefighters. He was the best firefighter I worked with throughout my career. I also enjoyed being around him when the riders were losing, his temper would show to the great amusement of those around him. Other times when he had to work and Bill Junior or Ralph Elgren were driving his delivery trucks and they had mechanical problems, well you could hear him yelling at them anywhere in the station. Don was an Assistant Chief when I first joined the fire department 22 years ago. I absolutely enjoyed working with Don. He was always exceptionally caring, professional and patient with me whenever I was dispatched to an emergency incident. He always took his time with me, and taught me invaluable lessons not only about the fire service, but about people. Not only was he a great pleasure to work with, he was a kind and caring person, a person for whom I will always carry great respect, and from whom I will always cherish wonderful memories. Sorry to here of your sad news. My condolences to the family and especially Scott who I knew best except for Don. I enjoyed working for Whiteline Transfer in early 70's. Always something going everyday to make life interesting. Don was always fun to talk and joke with. Don was a good friend to his kids, I think they will miss him deeply. Just this minute heard about Don - we were good friends and had some great times together. This morning, June 10, 2017, I called his old telephone number at Robinson Crescent thinking I might by chance catch him since it's been too many years since we have been in touch.
