WENTZELL, Bernard
Wentzell, Bernard Keith, 82, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 20, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta. Bernie was born on December 14th, 1934 to Moyle and Clara (Levy) Wentzell in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia.
At seventeen, Bernie began working for CN Rail and he always looked back on those seven years and the sound of the train whistle with fondness. In 1963, he became the Branch Manager of Powrmatic Ltd. in Halifax, a job he dearly loved. During those 33 years at Powrmatic, he and his wife Winnie travelled the world on numerous company trips. Upon retirement, Bernie discovered his love for bridge with his friends at the Halifax Bridge Club. Then in 2012, he joined his daughter’s family in Calgary, AB. A beloved father and grandfather, Bernie will be sorely missed.
Survived by his daughter Lisa Wentzell-Perry and her husband Brad Perry, grandchildren Brennan and Aislinn (Perry), brother Darren (Kingston, NS) and sister Marilyn (Calgary, AB). He was preceded in death by his wife Winnifred (Wood), his parents, and sister (Velma).
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Francis by the Lakes Church, 192 First Lake Drive, Lower Sackville on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017 at 10:00 am.
