Wendell Ernest Mills

Wendell Ernest Mills

August 11, 1935 – April 9, 2025

Wendell was born to John and Marjorie (née Mosher) Mills in Regina, Saskatchewan. Wendell was the second son born to the Mills family.

Wendell grew up in the Eastview community of Regina, attending Haultain Elementary School and later Balfour Technical High School. As a boy, Wendell began attending Kedleston Gospel Camp, which became a lifelong tradition for Wendell and the Mills family.

Wendell attended the Apostolic Missionary Training Institute in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and later, with his wife Cecile, the Full Gospel Bible Institute in Eston, Saskatchewan.

Wendell was born and raised in the Regina Apostolic Church, where he came to faith in Jesus. Wendell was an active member of the Apostolic Church for his whole life and was involved in dozens of volunteer roles. It is safe to say Wendell’s life revolved around the ministry of the Church. Wendell even wrote a history book entitled “As I Recall” about the history and ministry of the Regina Apostolic Church.

Wendell worked at a number of jobs in his younger days, including delivering milk for the Coop Creamery and bread for Weston’s Bakery with horse-driven delivery wagons. In 1960, Wendell became a city bus driver, a job he would retire from in 1990. In retirement, Wendell took a part-time position as a school bus driver.

On July 30, 1955, Wendell married Cecile Menzies. Four children were born to Wendell and Cecile – Wes, Kathy, Brad, and Grady. Wendell enjoyed taking his family for picnics in Wascana Park and on camping vacations in the summer. Wendell enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, and home improvement projects.

Wendell was predeceased by his parents, John and Marjorie Mills, an infant brother, Daniel, and his wife, Cecile, by 32 days. He is survived by his four children: Wes (Lois) Mills of Calgary, Kathy (Kent) Wilson of Regina, Brad (Diana) Mills of Regina, and Grady Mills of Calgary. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Tyler (Stephanie) Mills, Danny (Christine) Mills, Jaimie (Deanie) Wilson, Ashli (Andrew) Davie, Elya (Josh) Philp, and Katie Mills (Doug Cameron), as well as 12 great-grandchildren (one born the day after he passed away).

A memorial service will be held for Wendell on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Regina Apostolic Church. A family burial will be held at a later date at Kedleston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Kedleston Gospel Camp in Wendell’s memory or the charity of your choice.
