Vivian Ruth Walroth

Vivian Walroth, passed away peacefully at the Rocky View Lodge, Crossfield, Alberta on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the age of 86. She will be forever loved and remembered by her two daughters, Donna (Lachie) McKinnon and Darlene Speager, four grandchildren, Lance (Holly) and Laird (Alison) McKinnon, Chris (Stacey) and Carrissa Speager and one great-grandchild, Jeremy Speager. She is also survived by one sister Enid (Tom) Reeve and sisters-in-law Nadia Lind and Georgina Walroth. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and two brothers Mervin and Ralph. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Inverlea Ladies Club and the Crossfield Golden Key Club

Mom’s greatest passion was handicrafts – knitting, needlepoint, plastic canvas and crochet. Each grandchild was given a needlepoint picture and also an afghan for their first born. A Memorial Service will be held at the Crossfield United Church, 1005 Ross Street, Crossfield, on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm, with Brenda Watt, MTS officiating. The family wish to thank the Rocky View residents and staff for the wonderful care given to Mom.

My sincerest condolences to the surviving family members. I think of you guys often, especially Darlene and Donna. I remember so many fun times out on the farm.... playing in the playhouse for hours, peeking around the corner watching Donna and Lockie smooching after a date, helping with the chores, learning a few ditties on the piano, going out to the field at lunch with Auntie Vivian to take a hot lunch to Uncle Bob, cleaning the milk separator, playing with the dog, and eating Auntie Vivian's delicious suppers. I also remember the trouble Darlene and I got into (and well deserved!) when we tried to walk to town! I hope you are all doing well in your lives and are happy with the choices you've made. Donna and Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother, Donna. The boys and their families are also in my heart as Grandmas are very special people and the longer we have them the more there is to miss. Such a kind and warm lady. She always had a smile and loved to visit when ever she had a minute. I enjoyed knowing her when I worked at the CIBC, and seeing her at community events when I was the Mayor, and visiting her at the Rockyview Lodge the last number of years.

Dear Donna and Darlene; I just found your Mom's obituary on the internet. I am so sorry for your loss. I have been thinking about her alot lately. We were up to see a couple of our kids just a few days before your Mom passed away, I had wanted to stop and see her, but I was in a lot of pain. I sure regret not stopping. Your Mom was a wonderful lady, always so cheerful and happy. I will always remember her. I was wondering if you have a wedding picture of your Mom and Dad? Would you be able to e-mail me a copy? I sure would appreciate it. I am putting pictres etc. of all the aunts and uncles and their families, in my genealogy binder. I would also like a picture of each of your families. Take care.
