Teleforo “Roy” Tubajon passed away peacefully on August 10th, 2020, at the age of 79. Preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, he remained the loving father of Gina and Rob, Grandfather of Noa, Father-in-law to Scott, and companion to Teresa.
His adventurous spirit and multiple tours as a Merchant Marine, with American and Norwegian shipping companies during the 1960s, led him to North America, and later Vancouver, Canada. In Vancouver, he met Gloria, abandoned his sea-faring ways, and started a family. Roy was tireless in nature, especially when a task aided his family or a close friend, and his uncanny ability to fix or fabricate just about anything, made him the ultimate handyman.
Roy worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company for 32 years. He worked hard, but he knew how to have fun, and you would often find Roy out on the water in his boat, fishing and crabbing for hours, providing us, and those closest to him, with an endless supply of fresh seafood. And if Roy wasn’t fishing, he was probably dancing, as he and Gloria both became proficient ballroom dancers.
One thing we will cherish the most about Roy was his generosity to his family, his friends, and to those who were new to Canada, often guiding other immigrants and lending his support. We will miss his beaming smile, and his corny jokes, and we will always be thankful for his tireless efforts to improve the lives of his family and friends.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
