William (Bill) passed away at the age of 86 on Monday, March 15, 2021, from advanced dementia and physical decline.

He will be remembered by his four children, grandchildren, many friends, colleagues and his bookkeeping clients.

Among Bill’s many interests, he enjoyed being a Ham Radio operator and having lunch and theological conversations with friends.

Bill requested that there be no Funeral Service. His friends suggest that those of you wishing to think of your time with Bill or wishing to say goodbye, find a quiet place and allow your thoughts to remember Bill.

Bill’s cremated remains will be scattered at Alto Reste Cemetery Scattering Garden in Red Deer.

Special appreciation to the staff at Bow View Manor for all of their kindness and caring.

Messages of Condolence

On behalf of the Westside Singers I'm sending condolences to family and friends for the loss of Bill. He had been a member of our choir for several years, singing with the basses. We really enjoyed having him in the choir. He lived near several other members and drove in with them, so came in smiling and happy. After singing, we had snacks and tea which Bill really enjoyed as he lived on his own, and he was always up for a chat with us all. He was a perfect seniors' choir member! After he moved to Skye Point we were able to go and sing there and give him a little joy. Thank you to all of you who have looked after Bill and cared for him during his illness.

Our sincerest condolences to friends and family on the passing of Bill. He was an active and loved member of St. Thomas United Church for many years, as well as involved in the wider church and several community endeavours. Such a singer he was, deep, rich voice! We well know the challenges of dementia, thus we send a heartfelt message to all those who cared for Bill, knowing that his journey was courageous, strong and educational - all the things that would have mattered to Bill. We were very sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Dave & I sang in the St Thomas choir with Bill; we’ll remember him for his smile and quick wit. He will be missed. Again, sorry for your sad loss.

I was sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I met him at Living Spirit United Church and became singing buddies with the choir there. Even when he wasn't singing anymore you could always see the enjoyment on his face when he was moved by a piece of music. We had great conversations and I admired his strength, knowledge and willingness to listen to anyone who had a concern to voice. He had a huge soul and a kind heart to match. Thinking of you all.

Deepest condolences to the family and many friends of Bill. My time spent with him was when he worked at the office of Calgary Presbytery. He was always prepared for meetings and tackled problems and issues with gusto. He was an articulate theologian as well. We had many deep discussions about matters of life and faith. May the road ahead, in your new life, be filled with joy and light.

My 40th wedding anniversary is coming up, and Bill stood with me as the Best Man. In recent years I had lost contact with him, and did a search hoping to find him, but instead found his obituary. I met Bill when he was a minister in a small town SE of Calgary (I don't recall the name, as at my age my memory doesn't always do as I ask) and we kept in touch when he moved to Calgary and began an accounting practice. I remember best his ready smile and strength of character, both of which served him and others well. I miss you, Bill. God rest you well.
