Walter James Thompson

With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father Walter James Thompson, known to those who loved him as Jim. Jim passed away Monday April 25, 2022, at the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice in Richmond.

Jim was born on August 15, 1942, in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He immigrated to Canada in 1979 with his family soon following in 1980. Living in the western part of Canada throughout and finishing his career and enjoying his retirement here in Richmond, BC. Jim was a man of great strength, loyalty, humility, and love. His first love was his family, and this showed in everything he did. His quick wit and approachable nature brought smiles to many.

Predeceased by his mother Alice and his wife Pat. He is survived by his children Mark and Lisa who will aim to carry on his legacy in all they do.

In lieu of flowers please donate to The Canadian Cancer Society or Salvation Army Rotary Hospice in Richmond.

Oh what a grand, gracious, and giving gentleman Jim was. Great memories of working with Jim in the Foodservice Industry. We always did not agree but we always did not disagree….somehow that lead to us to being on the same page in a good natured way. My condolences to the family.

Dear Lisa and Mark, My deepest condolence on the loss of your father. A wonderful man and everyone fell in love with his sense of humour, values and kindness, Jim and I became very close friends at the lodge (Canadian Cancer Society) I was a Manager of Support Services at the lodge. My team love him and so did I. Jim you will be missed and thank you for such a wonderful friend.
