In Loving Memory of Thomas (Tom) E. Harris

Tom was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1933. He is survived by his brother, James Harris (Joan) and pre-deceased by his sister, Dorothy Howison (Peter) and brother, Robert Harris (Inge).

Tom was a true character who loved to travel and was social to a fault. He came from humble beginnings and worked hard all his life to achieve his dreams. Tom first joined the RCAF in 1951 and was stationed in Metz, France, where he first met his soulmate, Carole. They married and upon returning to Canada, had 2 children together, son (Ted) and daughter (Wendy). He was also a proud father to daughter (Meaghan) and son (Stephen) as well as a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.

Travelling was Tom’s passion and he was constantly planning and executing many bucket list trips to Europe, Alaska, Mexico and the US, bringing along family members and close friends. If there was a party, Tom was usually right in the middle of it.

One of his most favorite places to visit was Tuscany, Italy where he and a close-knit group of family and friends enjoyed the comforts of a local castle. That experience was a “trip of a lifetime”, as he was fond of saying.

White Rock, BC was Tom’s final residence and he loved referring to himself as a true “West Coaster”. It was there, he was lucky enough to spend enjoying his golden years with his true love, Carole, once again.

Tom passed away peacefully under the excellent care of the staff at The Ellen Sinclair Kennett Lodge in White Rock, BC on June 26th, 2025.

He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him. He met the end of his life as he did with most things, with determination and grace.
