Teresa Ann Herrmann

Teresa Ann Herrmann (née Kalynchuk), 67, of Port Coquitlam passed away on September 14, 2025, surrounded by her sons after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.

Teresa (Terry) was born on July 30, 1958 in Vancouver, BC, and was raised in Richmond, BC by her mother, Dinah Kalynchuk (née Stephen).  Terry attended Steveston Secondary School and always spoke fondly of the Steveston neighbourhood where she spent her youth.

After a diverse work history, Terry found herself working within the childcare field where she would ultimately spend over 25 years building genuine connections and community.  Her career both began and ended at The Learning Experience in Port Coquitlam, and included a brief but fulfilling intermission and tenure at the Burnaby Neighbourhood House.

Terry will be remembered by many and for as many or more reasons.  A lifelong creator, she found joy in the arts whether it be a good book, concert, theatre performance, or something of her own.  In another life, Terry would have been known for her art.  Terry’s sense of humour was clever and timely; her wit was often on display when presented with an opportunity or challenge.  Between her family and deep generational ties to the community, she will forever be remembered as a selfless caregiver.  While having ended far too soon, Terry’s life was punctuated by an indescribable degree of strength and determination.

Terry was preceded in death by her mother Dinah, her grandmother Annabella Bruce, and beloved aunt and uncle, Josie & Dennis Stephen.  Terry is survived by her husband of 42 years, Holger, and their two sons, Nicholas and Sean.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank her extended family and close friends for the support they showed Terry in her time of need; your love and kindness undoubtedly bolstered her resilience and resolve.  The family would also like to thank the staff and volunteers at Crossroads Hospice for their care and compassion as Terry’s journey came to its end.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be announced at a later date.  The family invites you to leave any condolences or tributes below; please subscribe to receive updates of Terry's obituary for the coming celebration's details.
