Gertie Sutherland (nee Spencer) passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospital surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Gertie was born on January 14, 1928 in Lethbridge, Alberta. Her parents moved to the Rugby area when she was veryyoung where she attended school until Grade 8. Gertie met Scotty in Didsbury and married August 21, 1946 at the Spencer farm at Rugby. Gertie is lovingly remembered by her husband, Scotty; their 6 children, Bev (Art) Regner, Shirley Harkness, Gayle Sutherland (Troy), Deb (Dan) Chalupa, Rob Sutherland and Donna (Chris) Heck; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Gertie was predeceased by her parents, her four siblings and one grandson, Kyle Sutherland.
