Stan passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the age of 74 years after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary in 2001 and his father, Henry in 1953. He is survived by uncle, Orville (Jane) Schurter in Kitchener, ON as well as numerous cousins. Stan leaves to mourn many close friends, most notably, Barb Creighton (Alan Paproski) of Calgary and his long time friend Ross (Bonnie) Larsen of Cochrane as well his loving companion Deborah Caines and her family of Calgary.
Stan was an avid Boston Bruins fan. When not watching his beloved Bruins you could find Stan at a number of rinks around the city as an off ice official for the last 18 years with the AJHL (Canmore Eagles, Calgary Canucks and Calgary Mustangs) where he became affectionately known as “Red Light”!
Stan’s life will be celebrated through Prayers on Monday Nov 18th at 7pm followed by a Memorial Mass on Tuesday Nov 19th at 11 am at St Gerard’s Catholic Church located at 8944 Elbow Drive SW with Father Bogdan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Gerard’s Catholic Church in Stan’s name. A special thank you to the dedicated staff at the Peter Lougheed Santuari Hospice and especially Dr. Oliver Bathe of the FMC for the loving attention and excellent care provided to Stan.
