Lorraine Sturgeon

February 24, 2025

Lorraine Sturgeon

Our Mom, Lorraine Sturgeon (nee Crossley), 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Monday Feb. 24, 2025.

She was predeceased by her parents James Elmo and Emma Peake Crossley, and her husband Robert Sturgeon.

Lorraine is survived by her four daughters, Laurie, Barb, Julie and Sally; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mom was a strong, intelligent, and highly independent woman, who believed in learning something new every day, especially in the last decade of her life.  She was an inspiration to all of us as she navigated her challenges and kept her spunk and sense of humour to the end.

Our Mom supported our endeavours and she loved reading, music, going to plays and concerts, playing the piano, and keeping her mind sharp by doing crosswords every day.

Using her exceptional organizational and problem solving skills, Mom worked as a high-level executive assistant for many years.  Later in life she organized a book club and made many wonderful friends there.

A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated March 18, at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph’s Church, 4451 Williams Rd., Richmond.  Light refreshments and visiting to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Mom’s favourite charities:  Sarah McLachlan School of Music, Huntington Society of Canada, or Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund.
