Joanne Lynn Stregger

January 23, 2025

Joanne Stregger

Joanne Lynn Stregger (nee Whitehead), born June 11, 1952, to Thomas and Ethel Whitehead, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, 9 months after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

Joanne was the loving wife of Evan Stregger for 53 years. Together, they raised three children: Matthew, Jason (Ehryn) and Sarah (Ryan), who were the light of her life. Joanne was also a dedicated grandma to her four cherished grandchildren: Declin, Hayden, Hayley and Kai.

Joanne was a proud role model to her sisters Colleen (Brent), Susan, Nancy and her late sister Brenda. She is predeceased by her sister Brenda, her brother-in-law Derek and her parents.

Joanne was the best mom. She created cherished memories with her children when they enjoyed camping, cross country skiing, and spending summers at the cabin. Joanne also spent countless treasured days with her grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Joanne devoted more than 46 years of her life to Girl Guides of Canada. She sat on Division, District, Area and Provincial committees, including the role of Deputy to the Provincial Commissioner. Her daughter, Sarah, and granddaughter Hayley are carrying on her guiding spirit with their Sparks unit, “just one hour a week”. Her legacy of service to others will endure through the generations she inspired.

Joanne will be desperately missed by her family, friends and colleagues, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
