Henry Joseph Soucy

Henry Joseph Soucy, passed into the arms of his Savior with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the age of 90 years.

Henry was predeceased by his wife Lillian; his mother Henriette (at the time of Henry’s birth), his father Dr. Antoine Soucy; stepmother Yvonne Soucy; siblings Marcel Soucy and Louis Soucy. Henry is survived by his son Roland (Olwyn) Soucy and their daughters Shané (Jay) and Morgan (Jordan); daughter Colette (Russ) Bobowski and their children Shayna (Charles), Brett (Meagan) and Tianna; son Ken (Laurie) Soucy and their children Jeremy, Jesse, James, and Emilie; son David (Bernie) Soucy and his son Stefan (Maddy); son Raymond (Michelle) Soucy and their children Nicholas (Karlie) and Monique. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends.

Henry “Doc” was a kind and gentle soul, with a heart of gold, who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK with Reverend Stephen Bill, Celebrant. Henri was such a friendly man and so welcoming. He was my grandmother’s first cousin and he was genuinely interested in getting to know all his family members and what was going on in their lives. He took a genuine interest in others and was loved for that very reason. He was a great man who I enjoyed visiting with when I had the chance to see him. May the great memories he shared with family and friends always be remembered, and my thoughts and prayers are with Henri’s family.

I will always remember uncle Doc with a smile and such gratitude. To know someone so kind and likeable is truly a gift. As kids, he was the uncle who would gather the gang of boisterous young cousins and entertain us with magic, like pulling a quarter from behind our ears and to our delight letting us keep it. Over the years, regardless of all the changes, he continued to keep that warm connection he had made so long ago. I know I am not alone in saying that I sure will miss him. Henry was our lighting guy at CKCK Television when I worked there from 1958 to 1962 (and for many years after that). He was a wonderful colleague, and always made me look a lot better on camera than I really did. I enjoyed meeting up with him at our CK reunions over the years -- a lovely person.

I could always count on him to make me laugh every time I was in the studio and the Kushluktuk story will always be one of my favourites. Dear Soucy Family. I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to all of you. I worked at CKCK from 1957 to 1966 and I was Doc's assistant for 2 years during that time. He was one of the nicest men I have ever had the privalage of knowing. Working with Henry was a real joy I looked forward every day to assisting him as we lit up the studio. Dear Soucy Family, I lived next door to Henry and his family during the 60s,70s and 80s. Cherished memories on Rothwell St as my parents were very fond of Henry and Lil. In 1973, Henry was my confirmation sponsor in the Catholic Church. I also had the privilege of working with Henry at CKCK TV. When I first started there in 1977 we would ride in together and recall many “white outs”traveling the #1 highway to the station. When I moved out east in 1988 I always looked forward to coming back to my family home and walking next door to chat with Henry. Godspeed Henry. Proud to have been your neighbour and colleague.

I worked at CKCK-TV through the late 70's part time weekends and evenings. So I didnt work with him a lot. But his presence stood out. I usually arrived at 5pm just before the 6 o'clock news when things were hectic. I was telecine, so I couldn't get involved in the studio, as I set up news slides that would get organized or changed last minute (No green screen in those days). Once the broadcast was over, I would head into the studio to help with take down But Henry Soucy was one of the influences that always had time for an upstart 30 years his younger like me. He would set up our weekend plans when he was off and showed us what was required for the weekend sets both for news and Saturday night Kingo BINGO. He was highly respected by many. May he rest in peace.
