Larry was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba but grew up in Melfort, SK. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in his 20’s and taught Math and Science at various schools. Dad had numerous hobbies and interests over the years and eventually came to reside in Regina, SK working at Acklands Inc. He then moved to Lumsden, SK where his real love for growing mushrooms began. He successfully owned and operated a mushroom plant for many years before moving back to Regina and ending his career as a teacher at the Adult Learning Centre. His passion for teaching enabled him to become the mentor that he was born to be. He loved to see his students excel and obtain careers of their own. Those who remember him would surely tell you of his love for coffee and how ultimately some sort of philosophical discussion would likely occur. Dad was never one to answer a question with a yes or no but, instead, you had to be prepared for a discussion on the meaning of life.
One of his goals was for people to see their potential and live it out. He truly saw us all as equals and deserving of love and compassion. This was also demonstrated in his writings. In his later years, he wrote 2 novels depicting the struggles that he endured but especially the importance of our purpose here on earth: to love those around us and accept the love shown to us. Dad longed to be in heaven and spoke often of being home with Jesus and the reunion he would have with those that have gone on before him. We will surely miss the words of wisdom that he imparted on all of us and the laughter we shared over the years. Till we meet again in Glory, Love you Dad.
