Shirley Ann Schmidt

Shirley Ann Schmidt (née Burton) of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, at age 77, with family by her side.

Shirley was born on April 3rd, 1949, in Smeaton, SK, and moved to Regina in 1953. She attended Balfour Collegiate and married the love of her life, Robert, in 1966. Shirley worked for many years in the SaskTel cafeteria and retired in 2012.

Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling to B.C., Arizona, and Mexico—sometimes via motorcycle. In her later years, she mastered knitting and completing puzzle books with record speed.

Shirley is survived by her husband Robert, son Darryl (Rolli), granddaughter Stephanie, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Melvin and Pauline, her sister Bernice, and her brothers Wilfrid and William.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital for their exceptional care.

A private celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
