SHERRIS, Douglas Alexander
OCTOBER 27, 1934 - JUNE 13, 2017
TEACHER TOUR GUIDE FISHERMAN GENEAOLOGIST FRIEND
Doug was born in Edmonton and raised in the Peace River Country. He began his more than 36 year teaching career in the Peace River Country before moving to Didsbury where he taught for more than 20 years.
Doug had many interests which he pursued passionately. He loved to travel and was a great tour guide to Disneyland. He loved fishing and spent 15 summers as a deckhand/cook on a commercial fishing boat off the BC coast.
Doug was an avid genealogist and spent years researching the family history. He was the thread that wove the family tapestry and kept in touch with family world wide.
Doug was an active mason and member of the Order of the Eastern Star serving locally, provincially and representing Alberta in Missouri and New York State.
Doug was a good friend to all and will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Doug's Life will be held at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church, Didsbury, Alberta on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's memory to:
