Timothy "Tim" Norris Shaw

With sadness, we announce that Tim passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 4th from a heart attack. Born in Lacombe and raised in Lethbridge, Tim spent his adult life in Calgary raising a family with his wife Betty, working as an IT project manager, and volunteering in community groups. In retirement, Tim enjoyed curling, playing tuba, drumming, travelling, volunteering with CAWST, spending time with family, and helping out with whatever needed doing.

Beloved for his generous heart, bright smile, and hearty laugh, and respected for his intellect and integrity, Tim will be dearly missed by family and friends. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty; children, Allison (Neil) and Eric (Katherine); grandchildren, Sammy, Miles, and Austin; mother, Irma Nilsson; brother, David (Louise), and their families.

Please join us to celebrate Tim’s life at the Calgary Winter Club on Saturday, February 15th at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST) at www.cawst.org or to Places for People www.placesforpeople.ca or to a acharity of the donors choice.

Dear Betty, Allison, Eric and families We are so saddened to hear of the loss of Tim. We remember him as such a warm hearted and generous man. A good father to Allison and Eric, a good husband to you Betty. I’m sure he was also a wonderful grandfather. We remember him with alway a big smile and how he took on such a caring role with the Japanese exchange students. It is sad that we loss touch with each other as you and your family were always so kind to us. Tim will be in our thoughts and prayers. Rick and I are so saddened by the sudden loss of our dear friend Tim. Since we first met Tim in 1982 we knew he would be our good and trusted friend. And he was - through all the ups and downs of life. We recall great vacations spent with Tim, Betty and ‘the kids’ - theirs and ours. Only recently, we called Tim one night for some help and he was there in 20 minutes: that’s Tim. When I think of Tim and the wonderful man we knew from even just the little short visits mainly at family reunions, my heart aches for you, Betty and for your children and grands and all your family and friends who really knew him as such, I'm sure a very bright light in their lives. We were saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Tim. We knew Tim from Westwinds and had the opportunity to go to Ireland and Scotland with him on a Westwinds trip in 2018. I was so sad to hear about Tim’s sudden passing as I knew him in Junior High School in Lethbridge. I was able to find my Grade 8 yearbook and, sure enough, there I was standing next to Tim. I believe that was also the year he began playing the tuba – very talented right from the start. A great guy who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Sounds like he had a very full life and a wonderful family. My heartfelt sympathy to you all.
