It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ken Shaw of Airdrie, Alberta on Friday, April 11th, 2014 at the age of 67 years. Ken was born and raised in Montreal and moved to Airdrie in 1980 with his wife, Claudette and daughter, Kelly. He worked for Nortel for over 30 years. Ken was passionate about horses, he raised (and raced) thoroughbreds. His most important role though came as a grandfather to his three grandchildren, who loved him dearly. Ken is survived by his wife, Claudette Shaw; daughter, Kelly Campbell (Eric); Grandchildren, Blake, Owen and Charleigh Campbell; and brother, Stephen Shaw (Diane). A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held on Wednesday, April 16th from 1:30 - 3:30pm at the Woodside Senior Centre, 411 Woodside Drive NW, Airdrie, AB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory can be made to The Salvation Army Community Services (Calgary), 420-9th Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta T2G 0R9, Registration No. 107951618RR0130.

My condolences to the Shaw family. I knew Ken because, like him, I am a Nortel retiree. Ken worked hard on behalf of Nortel retirees who reside in Western Provinces. Ken respected input, He dealt with questions with detailed attention and, where appropriate, with humor. For me he was the voice at the end of a phone line. So sad to hear of Kenny's passing way too early. I grew up with him in Montreal and was best friends with Ken's brother Stevie in grade school and high school. Heard of sad news from Brian Brownie just today. Condolences to the Shaw family.

I was so sad to hear today of Kenny's passing. We grew up together at Lac L'Achigan since my famiily moved there when I was 4. Many, many fun summers with our extended gang of the boys and the girls. Will always remember Kenny's quiet senses of humour and his great blond hair! My sincerest sympathy to his wife, Claudette, daughter Kelly and all the family as well as to brother Stevie and Diane.
