Maragret Roberta Scott

Margaret passed away quietly in the early morning of Wednesday, August 27,2014 after a brief battle with cancer.  She was predeceased by her husband, Neil Scott, in 1978, and her partner of 30 years, Bruce Leyden, in 2008.  She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends;  Jay (Kathryn) Scott, Michael (Mary) Scott, Paul (Laurie) Scott; her grand children, Tazmara Gowans (Roy Neto), Arianna (Randy) Johnson, Jack, Julian and Martin Scott, Carie Von Minden and her great grand children, Connor Gowans, Cole Johnson, and Sienna Cawthorne. Margaret started and ended her life here in Calgary. She served proudly as a WRCN during World War II and over the years enjoyed attending the reunions to rekindle friendships.  She was an active member of the IODE for many years in Calgary and after moving to Nanoose Bay she became involved with an aqua size group whose members became her treasured friends. She had been an avid knitter and seamstress through out her life.  In the past few years she turned her creativity to painting in acrylics for which she showed quite a talent. She loved to travel, to Hawaii with Neil, and during her years with Bruce saw a lot of the world.   In her final years she enjoyed visiting Michael’s family in tropical Queensland. At her request no service will be held but we ask that any one who knew and loved her, pause at Noon on Sunday, October 12, 2014 and think of a time when you laughed with her.  Smile and send her on her journey with love and light. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Margaret’s name to The Calgary Zoological Society, 1300 Zoo Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 7V6.
