SAUNDERS, Ian Gregory

Greg Saunders, beloved grandpa, dad, and friend, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014. Born in Calgary, Greg had a long career with the City of Calgary Waterworks. An avid lover of the outdoors, Greg enjoyed fishing, camping at the farm, and finding the perfect walking stick. He was a keen cribbage player and he always looked forward to spending time on Lamma Island. He leaves behind his children, Chad (Jen) and Paula (Scott); their mom, Sandi; three darling grandkids, Edward, Scarlett and Robert;

as well as his loving brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews who are comforted by the knowledge that he once again has his canine best friend, Fletch by his side. Special thanks to the Cardiac Intensive Care unit at the Foothills Hospital.

His family wishes to honour Greg's life by sharing stories and laughter with those whose lives he touched.

A gathering to honour Greg will be held at The Palomino Smokehouse, 109 7th Avenue SW, Calgary, AB  on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Messages of Condolence

Chad, Jen and family, So sorry to read about your Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Wishing I was there to give you both a hug. Love ya Aunt Joan, Uncle Mike and Devan. ~ Joan Riley

I recall working with Greg in the 90's at the City, many of the senior people looked up to Greg for his knowlege and confidence in the industry. I knew him only through work, but took to him instantly. Our paths crossed only a few times after that. I was real sorry to hear that he has left us now. I would like to pass along my thoughts to those who were close to him and miss him now. ~ David M Hall
