SANDER, Richard Vincent
December 26, 1953 - February 4, 2019
For all of those who knew and loved him, our hearts are shattered at the sudden passing of our dearest Rick on February 4, 2019, at the young age of 65.
Rick was born in Wilkie, SK to Magdalena and George Sander; the third eldest child of eight. Rick is survived by his wife (Marianne), brothers Wayne (Martha), Bob (Sheila), Kenny and Darcy (Stephanie), cousin Dave (Debbie), step-children Jamie (France) and Alicia (Kyle) and his grandkids, Eloise and Lachlan. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Harvey and sisters, Marlene and Sylvia.
Rick was a loving and generous husband, brother, uncle, cousin, step-father, grandfather and friend. He met Marianne Louwe on a blind date on February 4, 2006 and they were married on August 9, 2008. They enjoyed camping and traveling together, with many trips to Mexico, his favourite fishing destination. Rick and Marianne had just spent two weeks together in Nuevo Vallarta where he thoroughly enjoyed three deep sea fishing trips and whale watching. He was known to the locals as Santa, because he always generously gave them his catch.
Rick was a dedicated employee, rarely missing a day, at Stan Poulsen Trucking for the last 33 years of his life, right up until his passing. Rick’s passions included fishing, hunting, barbecuing and humorously giving everyone a hard time. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, who were a light in his life. Rick will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held at the Carstairs Community Hall - 1100 Lackner Way, Carstairs, AB - on Sunday, February 24th from 1 - 4pm. An opportunity to speak will be given to those who wish to share a memory.
