Robert James (Jamie) Garner

October 23, 1963 - September 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert James Garner (Jamie) announces his passing at the age of 61 years. He died peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit in Indian Head Hospital, Saskatchewan on September 13, 2025.

Jamie was born to Bill and Jean Garner on Oct. 23, 1963 in St. John, New Brunswick. Due to illness in his birth family he was joyfully welcomed, at the age of one week, into the family of his Aunt Fran and Uncle Danny Jamieson of Wallace, Nova Scotia.

His early years were spent rollicking with his newly acquired sisters, Ethel Margaret (Maggie) and Kathleen and three Sellick cousins. Older siblings Edward, Florence and Roberta had already left the family home. He received all of his formal education in Nova Scotia.

Even though he was trained as a Carpenter, Jamie worked in many occupations throughout his life. In 2007 he arrived in the Alameda/Oxbow area to help his brother, Ed, with the renovation of various properties. Following this, he decided to stay in the area and took a job with Smith’s Lumber in Oxbow where he worked for a number of years. Later he took on the maintenance position at Bow Valley Villa where he enjoyed hearing many stories of days gone by, as told to him by the residents.

In his spare time Jamie enjoyed tinkering on old engines and sharing his passion for anything vintage, especially vintage motorcycles.

At the time of his death he was a valued staff member of the Alameda Co-op.

Jamie was a quiet free spirited and wise person, a true and humble man-always ready to help anyone, anywhere in any way he could

He will be lovingly remembered and very much missed by family and friends across Canada as well as his special friend, Gabriella Farkas of Budapest, Hungary.
