Betty was the only daughter born to Johan and Elizabeth Neufeld, the Niverville general storekeepers. She was raised in a small Manitoba town with her 2 older brothers, Tony and Johan “Jack”.

She met her husband, Robert “Bob”, at a barn dance after his baseball tournament. They danced the night away and he drove her home. On May 5, 1956 they were married.

Bob & Betty had 2 daughters, Cindy and Barb, and the family started their trek westward from Manitoba. They spent a short year in Saskatoon and then settled in Calgary in 1960. Once in Calgary, Betty made many friends and the prairie girl began to love the mountains.

Over the years, Bob & Betty travelled extensively through Canada and the US. There were many family camping vacations in BC, and then the semi-retired couple spent memorable winters in California …. until Bob discovered Florida.

Mom will be dearly missed and is lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Bob; her daughters; Cindy (Kelvin Lomheim) and Barb (Istvan Szrubec). Grandma was loved dearly by her 4 grandchildren; Beth (Lucas Wilson), Chris (Kristina), Samantha (Taariq Jackson), and Jessica (Theron White). She was blessed to have 7 great-grandchildren; Kaylem, Aaliyah, Brynley, Eleanor, Eve, Alexander and Wesley.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army, 420 - 9 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB, T2G 0R9.

Hi This is Linda(Neufeld) Leclerc. We heard that Betty had passed away. We are so sorry to hear this. It brings back memories of many years ago, of the times we came out to visit, Betty and Bob were always so happy to see us and I have memories of playing with you girls. My parents would have been very sad to hear of her passing as they had a special spot for Betty in their heart. What I remember is that my aunts constantly called me Betty when I was younger and I could even see the resemblance

Dear Bob and Family, We have great memories of Aunt Betty as being a generous, caring, person for those that came into her life. We especially remember the kindness and support that Betty and Bob offered and displayed in the early 60s when my parents were in dire straights and helped us in any way they could. These acts of kindness helped us to establish ourselves in Alberta and make a new life. Nothing was a problem for them. Before and After our ( Ronnie and I) own wedding we were always made to feel welcome in their home. At times it was coffee or wine, but mostly fantastic meals that Betty just seemed to whip up. Bob was the BBQ Man. Betty will be missed by all who new her and of course by Bob for whom she was his backbone of support. We are certain that our Creator God has a special place for her to now rest and be free of all she suffered with. We love you betty.
