REBECCA ZOE GRACE MACLEAN

 3 May 1973 - 10 July 2026

Joy came into this world on 3 May 1973 and was named Rebecca Zoe Grace MacLean by her delighted parents Mary (Meurling) and Brian MacLean.  This event stopped the nagging from the grandparents Annie and Alric Meurling of Kingston ON and Grace MacLean of Moncton NB who were thrilled with our little darling, the first of 13 grandchildren in the Meurling clan.  In later years, Becca at 4’11”, was the head of the Meurling grandchildren’s leadership cadre, known as ‘The Triumvirate’, alongside her brother Trevor and her cousin Andrew.  Her diminutive size when compared to her siblings and cousins didn’t stop her from being the generation’s unquestioned and adored leader...but this was the story of Becca’s life as time and time again she proved that dynamite comes in small packages.

Becca was a military brat which required her to move every 2 to 3 years. Although she enjoyed adventure; Becca, as a teenager was not always thrilled with the prospect of leaving a home and friends.  However; she always easily made new friends, many of whom stayed in touch with her over the years.  As for school, Becca enjoyed most of that journey which saw her attend schools in Nova Scotia, Ontario and California.  Upon graduating from grade 6 in California Becca led the class and was awarded the Citizenship Award.  Interestingly, this also occurred in Dartmouth, when she passed from grade 9 with top marks and was again awarded the Citizenshiip Award.  These awards were a testament about how much Becca cared about her fellow students.

Attending West Kings High School was not a pleasant time for Becca and upon graduation her free spirit took her to Jasper to work at the lodge.  She loved her new friends and the outdoors and nature, even after being chased across the grounds by a bull elk during rutting season.

After working at Jasper for a year, Becca returned to Dartmouth where she worked for Carleton cards and then to Toronto and eventually Vancouver where she was a store manager for Carlton in each location.  While an exceptional leader who delivered results for Carlton, she knew that retail management could only contain her for so long.  With an incredible imagination and artistic flair, Becca was drawn to graphic design so she pursued marketing training at BCIT.  Significant promotions from Carleton ensued - area manager for first southern Alberta, where she met her former husband Mike, and then Toronto.  It was rewarding, but after a couple of years of fighting traffic she had had enough of the big city and the fresh air of BC lured her back.

Her life changed dramatically over the next few years as she welcomed her beautiful children into the world - Thomas, Nathanial, and the twins Georgia and Oliver.  The four of them certainly kept her busy, but Becca’s patience, consistency and warmth gave them a wonderful, loving home and shaped them into incredible humans who reflect her passion for life.  Despite the pace of home life, she took on civic responsibilities.   including membership on the counsel of All Saints Anglican church in Agassiz and helping to organize the procurement and placement of prefabs at the school in Harrison for pre and after school care as well as kindergarten.  Never afraid to take a risk in life to pursue a dream, she, alongside her friend Michelle also opened a small clothing store in Chilliwack they appropriately called Diva, a name which would later transition to Becca’s own graphics and design company.

When the twins were 2 years of age, Bec and Mike divorced.  Becca was suddenly faced with a level of adversity that few could manage as she was left to raise the children on her own with no job and mounting debts.  Her grit and determination were immediately put on display, as she put her pride aside and worked for commission by cold call selling advertisements and going door to door looking for opportunities.  Fortunately, she impressed the graphic designer of the magazine who hired her.  Being a free spirit, she eventually started her own graphic design business which allowed her to work from home; but more recently she was offered a dream job by Braber Equipment and she jumped at the chance.

Becca met Quinn Jeannotte on 27 July 2012 and he became the love of her life.  They had so much fun together whether it was going on a date night of dancing or attending a concert, doing extensive renovations to Bec’s home or working on Quinn’s Real Estate project Magnolia Grove. They also enjoyed family time by taking their six children camping or to the dunes in Kandy for a weekend of all terrain vehicle riding and driving the dune buggies.  She and Quinn were a team in every sense of the word and were certainly meant to be together.

Becca’s heart revolved around her children. Just 2 years after being told that she probably would not be able to have children Thomas arrived with Nate, Georgia and Ollie following not long after.  They are all very different and she was extremely proud of them.  Becca also adored her younger brothers ‘Tij” and “Nickle”.  The three of them had a very special bond and even though physically far apart, they remained in close contact with frequent phone calls.  Becca also loved her extended family of aunts, uncles and 10 cousins.  All came out to visit and be with her following her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Our darling daughter was so full of life.  She was a warm, kind and caring person.  Her laugh was so real and contagious that her joy would fill the room and touch everyone within earshot.

After a 10 month heroic battle with cancer; Becca died on 10 July 2026 surrounded by loving family and friends, who couldn’t quite believe that she had gone.

Becca leaves behind her soulmate Quinn, her wonderful children Thomas, Nathanial, Georgia and Oliver,  her parents Mary and Brian,  her brother Trevor(and wife Tara), her baby brother Nick(and wife Megan), her nephews Keighan and Devlin, aunts Catherine Farrell, Janice (and husband Dick) DeBoer, Sara(and husband Ted)Kaiser and Uncle John(and wife Susan) Meurling as well as many cousins and a myriad of friends.

We love you darling girl and miss you so much.
