Raymond Anthony Jakubowski was born May 10, 1943, in Grayson, SK. He moved to Regina in 1960, met and fell in love with Ida in 1961 and they were married in 1963. Ray had several jobs as a young man but found he had a passion for sales and spent the remainder of his career working for various building supply companies. He was a humble and kind man who looked for common ground when building relationships and always listened to others’ views without judgement.
Ray was a family man, deeply committed to his wife Ida for over 61 years. Together they raised two sons with whom he loved with a great deal of kindness, respect, and pride. Ray treasured his time with family and enjoyed spending time with the extended family at all sorts of special events such as: birthdays, holidays, and family reunions… Ray and Ida bought a piece of property at Pasqua Lake in 1973 and with help from family and friends built a cabin and eventually moved there permanently in 1992. Dad took great pride in knowing their place at the lake provided all who visited many wonderful memories. They enjoyed lake life until they moved back to Regina in 2013.
Ray loved snowmobiling, boating, fishing, camping, campfires, BBQing, classic country music, vehicles, shuffleboard, playing pool and sipping on the odd ‘Diesel’ (white rum & Pepsi).
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Regina General and Pasqua Hospital ICU units. Their kindness, professionalism and dedication brought comfort to our family during an incredibly difficult time. We are especially grateful for the gentle way they supported not only Dad, but also us as a family. Their words, patience and presence made a world of difference and knowing he was in such capable and caring hands brought us peace in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to be made in Ray’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, a cause near and dear to his heart.
A gathering to honour Ray’s life will take place at Holy Child Parish in Regina, SK. on Saturday April 26th at 10:30am, lunch to follow.
