Wayne Price

Wayne Roy Price

June 20, 1932 – April 27, 2021

Wayne was born on the family farm located 7 miles southwest of Crossfield, where he remained until 1995. Born to Allen & Amy, he was the third child with brothers, Lynn & Stan and his younger sister, Pauline. Wayne started school at the McPherson Coulee School a few miles south of the family homestead and finished his normal schooling in Crossfield. Wayne was proud to be part of the 1952 graduating class from Olds College where he studied agriculture. He and Bernice remained proud alumni. In 1954 Wayne married Bernice Aldred of Crossfield and began creating their family and memories on the family farm.

In his younger years Wayne enjoyed playing basketball and curling. Over the years they watched many hours of curling on TV and enjoyed attending the Brier when it was in Calgary.

Some of Wayne’s favorite pastimes were driving around the countryside, auction sales, mechanics, reading, watching TV, travelling/camping and playing cards. There were many late Thursday nights’ playing cards, sharing stories and laughter with friends after a dinner out.

Wayne and Bernice loved their community and were involved in many groups and organizations, square dancing, Elks, U.F.A., Crossfield United Church, Crossfield Agriculture Society, Golden Key Club & Crossfield Old Timers Association, but what they are probably most remembered for is their Christmas light display. While they had always made a point of decorating on the farm, in comparison very few people saw the display, but when they moved into Crossfield in 1995 they continued the tradition and became recognized for the joy and beauty they brought to each season.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Helen (Stan) Volk, Irene, Linda (Don) Rush, Earl (Pat) Price, Darlene (Lucien) Houle & Gordon (Stacy) Price; grandchildren, Dawn Volk, Diane Rush, Christina Rush, Victoria Volk, Amanda (Jon) Tarrant, Katie (Dan) Dunn, Renate Price, Erich Meiritz, Jennifer Price, Tyler Price, Carla (Richard) Owens, Trent (Brooklynn) Price, Kolin Houle; as well as 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Bernice; parents, Allen & Amy Price; brothers, Lynn & Stan; sister, Pauline.
