Edward William Peters

He was born in Swallwell Alberta and was raised east of Didsbury on the farm where he spent the rest of his life.

 

He was married July 22, 1956 to Katherine Georzen.  He began farming after his father’s heart attack in 1947, but returned to school to finish his grade 12 in 1949, then returning to farm to care for his adoptive parents for their lifetime. He had livestock: pigs, dairy cattle and range cattle.  He grew grains, oilseeds and pulses. He began growing pedigreed seed in 1972 and continued until his death, 41 years. He loved playing hockey in high school and in old timers leagues. He loved sharing Flames games tickets with friends and family or watching the NHL. Ed served on many boards including Neapolis Co-op, Rural Electrical Association, School and others. Ed went to the hospital February 3, 2013, and then to long term care in Calgary and Didsbury. He was predeceased by his parents Gerhard and Susanna Peters. Left to mourn are his wife, Katherine Helen along with his children Delores (Phil), Doug, Diane, and Bruce (Chris); his grandchildren Daniel, Morgan and Carolyn (Delores); Joel, Danielle, Selena and her son Ezio (Doug); Twila, Tanis and her husband Gordon, Reg and Colin (Diane); and Josh and Ross (Bruce).
