Peter Deutsch

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Peter Deutsch on January 20, 2026, age 65, but we hold onto the profound hope that he is now in the presence of his Saviour, Jesus Christ.  He will be deeply missed by his wife and partner in all adventures, Caroline Tidd, as well as his daughters Courtenay Steller (Dennis), Mackie Wiebe (Joel) and Bailey Deutsch (Caleb Barrett), brother Steve (Anne) and sisters Nancy Maleki (Ali) and Joyce (Les Greenfield) as well as “adopted” daughter, Kirsten, and nieces and nephews.  He cherished his six beautiful grandchildren, Norah, Samuel, Eli, Madelyn, Jem and Jonah, more than he ever could have imagined.

Peter’s incredibly quick wit and sense of humour always kept us on our toes, as did his deep, thoughtful, and probing questions.  He loved to learn, earning three degrees (BSc (Biology), BEng (Civil) and MEng (Environmental), and was passionate about his profession, first as an environmental engineer and later folding health and safety into his portfolio. He also always had a book on hand - “can’t leave the house without something to read” – and was sure to tell others what he was reading and get recommendations in return.  Peter loved adventures of all types - road trips, walks in nature, kayaking, biking, finding new recipes, writing and drawing - but was also keen to read, nap, or share a conversation over a cup of coffee and something chocolatey.

A memorial service will be held on January 31, 2026 at Northside Community Church in North Delta, BC at 11:00 a.m.
