Tom Patterson

It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Thomas (Tom) Patterson on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the age of 93 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Ruth (Gerard) his nieces and nephews Darlene, Karen, Robert(Sandi), Dave, Emily(Ken), Rick(Linda), Betty(Doug), Bev and their familiesas well as he will also be dearly missed by all of our extended family and many friends.

Tom was born in Benton Alberta on September 26, 1922 to Agnes and Thomas Patterson. He was the second of two children. He joined the Air Force at the age of 20 and in 1944 was stationed in Northern Ireland as an engine repair man for the flying boats that patrolled the Atlantic Ocean for enemy submarines. Upon returning home from the war he married his beloved wife Arlene and continued to farm until their retirement in 2000 when they moved to Didsbury, AB.

During his lifetime Tom was a strong supporter of his community and was dearly loved and well respected by all his family and friends. Heartfelt thanks to all the Home Care Nurses and Staff at Chinook Winds Lodge who made the lodge his home and treated him so wonderfully during his time there.

A Visitation will be held at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, 2037 – 24th Ave., Didsbury, AB on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at Zion Evangelical Missionary Church, Corner of Hwy 582 and 20th Ave., Didsbury, Ab on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM. In Lieu of flower’s a donation in Tom’s memoary may be made to the Poppy Fund, # 1, 4539 – 6th Street NE, Calgary, AB T2E 3Z6.

Ruth & Gerard; just a note of condolences it was a pleasure taking care of Tom and knowing the both of you during Tom's residence at Chinook Winds;when I think of Tom,I remember him asking what the entertainment was for the evening, I told him I would be singing, Tom smiled and said,"Should I lock the doors now so nobody leaves"

We were saddened to hear of Tom's passing . As former residents of east Carstairs area and former members of St. Cyprians church we often saw Tom and Arlene at church and dances. He was a fine man and we know you will miss him in your family circle.
