PARKER, Barbara Ann (nee Martel)
January 11, 1947 – March 5, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Ann Parker (nee Martel) of Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the age of 75 years after a courageous battle against cancer.
Barbara began her career with CHAB Radio in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, as a continuity writer and worked her way up to executive secretary. When Barbara and her family moved to Red Deer, Alberta, she completed her Accounting Designation at the Red Deer College and began her career as a respected accountant at Anderson Macore. She then moved onto Titan Electric where she was their Account Controller, and then retired as the Chief Financial Officer (C.F.O.) of Red Flame Hot Tap Services, to fulfill her true passions in gardening and reading.
Barbara was the loving daughter of Adolph and Mary Martel. The adored wife of Craig Hall Parker. Courageous sister of George Martel, Yvonne “Bunny” (Dave) Brzak. Sheila (Ron) Mokry. Warrior and devoted Mother of Paul, Stephen (Claire), April, Amy (Dave). Proud Grandmother of Arielle and Nathan. Best friend of Britta Jensen. Barbara was predeceased by her first husband, Andy Huel, eldest Son, Paul, and her brother George.
Barbara will be most remembered for her intelligence, kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, open-mindedness, and beautiful smile. She will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of life for Barbara will be held later this summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Barbara’s name.
