Maureen Bernetta O'Connell

Maureen Bernetta O'Connell, at the age of 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents John and Bernetta O'Connell and infant brother Patrick. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings Patricia, Denyse, Jackie, Tom, and their families.

Born in 1949 in Regina, she lived her entire life in the community, working for many years at the Bank of Montreal, Auto Gallery, Bowring, and Sherwood Co-op. Maureen was loved by many, having a close group of friends, and forming relationships with her nieces and nephews who loved her like a mother. Her heart was full of love to give to so many. She will be sadly missed but carried in our hearts as a sweet, caring, and thoughtful person.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Maureen’s Life will take place on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Hillsdale Baptist Church, 101 Monroe Place in Regina, Saskatchewan. An interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. I was very sad to hear the news of Maureens passing, she and I worked together for many years and shared lots of laughs through the sliding window that separated our offices at Auto Gallery. Her days always started with diet coke, no matter if it was 7am or 1pm and she was famous for bringing her cheese & macaroni casserole to our pot lucks. We lost touch for a few years, but more recently shared a quick visit and catch up each time I was in Bowring or the Coop. My condolences to the O'Connell family. So sorry for your loss. Much too soon for Maureen to leave us. I worked at Main Office Regina and got to know Maureen. She loved to laugh and found humuor in most things. She also taught me how to play poker, needless to say I always had to pay up. This was back in the day when you could have office parties.
